XR Design for a Photography Virtual Gallery
XR Design for a Photography Virtual Gallery
Why I launched my Photographs Gallery... in VR.
I always had the dream of presenting my photographs printed in really big sizes in a cool gallery so people can admire them. Unfortunately, my design career kept me away from this side-passion.
Today, Virtual Reality allowed me to showcase art and create interactions as never before, integrating different design tools. So my curiosity took me to face the challenge of learning a new tool to do it.

From Product Designer to 3D artist to Photographer
After I got a Meta-Quest Headset as a birthday present, (my wife understands...) I started to dig into the 3D VR space. I'm sold that these technologies are about to change how humans interact with each other in VR and with their surroundings in AR. A new generation of GUI and UX is revolutionizing the way we communicate, work, and play.
After doing some experiments in Unity I found Bezi which allows big flexibility in 3D production, and interactions but also a seamless integration with Figma. As somebody who spends 80% of their time using that software, I found the perfect way to connect some of my multiple hats: Product Designer, 3D artist, and photographer!!!
With the tech in place, I was able to (not without some trial and error) define what I wanted to do for many years which is creating a virtual photographic gallery where users can walk in a virtual space admiring some of my photographs in a big format (no printing problems here) with an interactive twist, as the user can go deeper into each image to know more about where they were taken, and some facts about them.
The concept behind this particular gallery is the idea (maybe a naive one) that we all share the same sky regardless of where we live, what we believe, or what we think. In these times of global uncertainty to realize we are one sharing this unique blue amazing background that should be a reminder of unity and hope.
